I’m a recent i-phone convert and came across this great app – kitty wigs, ie: wigs for your kitty! (yes really) you can test out the concept on un suspecting kitties by downloading the app (before you splash out on the actual wig)
Dozy looks suitably unimpressed don’t you think?!

The cover of Time caught my attention earlier. This is BiBi, an 8 year old female pug from New York City. She is illustrating an interesting article on science revealing how smart other species can be – and raises new questions about how we treat them.
Dogs, of course, have long been known to display all kinds of intelligent behaviors, but the most impressive, say experts in animal cognition, is the canine’s ability to understand what pointing means.
No other species understands that an extended finger indicates that there is something in that direction that is worthy of its attention. You can read the full article here

This cutie was found by the embassy of Brazil in Ranelagh last Friday. (We think he may not be lost, but really looking to emigrate to Brazil…..) If you know his owners tell them to give us a call ASAP before he convinces the lovely Brazilians to stamp his visa!

At MuttUgly we like to understand everything about animals, what they’re thinking, what mood they’re in and how their day is going! We did some light reading to improve our Dr. Dolittle skills and found out some interesting facts on cat communication!
Cats usually communicate through scent and body launguage, however, our feline friends that are used to human contact adapt their communication through vocalising or meow-ing! As humans are in charge, and we communicate mainly through sound, it makes sense for cats to communicate vocally also! Cats must be worn out making all that noise just for us!
There are at least nineteen different types of “miaow” which can change in pitch, rhythm, volume, tone, pronunciation depending on the situation. Your cats personality depends on how often they talk to you, some never stop talking, so get practicing your meow!

A funny story from Australia today, a restaurant was ordered to pay compensation to a blind man after refusing to allow his “guide dog” into the restaurant. The waiter thought they he was asking if “gay dogs” are allowed.
The staff believed that “nudge” was an ordinary pet dog that had been de-sexed to become a gay dog, the restaurant owners claimed. (so that’s how you become gay, well you learn something new every day!)
The Muttuglies would just like to reassure our customers that dogs of all shapes, sizes, peculiarities and orientations are more than welcome here, even (especially) the gay ones!
